PPT memory problems

David M Wicker

using ppt 2002 on xpsp2 with 1gb memory with 2 ppt files open,
one 2.3mb with a simple excel ssheet which is 'opened' for editting
and a second instance of ppt, min file size, again with a simple
embedded s/sheet open, no other applicn is actively running, biggest
processes running are excel and ppt
Occasionally I get 'can't open because of memory, 'do you want to run
applicn server?'
if i say yes, it goes away and comes back with the message 'not enough
memory to run this application'

1 is there a memory problem?
2 what should I do about it?
3 what memory is ppt using that might be causing the problem?

I know this may sound weird, but how many fonts do you have installed on the
machine.

how do I go about counting them?

Fonts:

click Start, Control Panel, doubleclick Fonts
Count the number of icons you see there.
Each of them represents one installed font
