PPT 2000 unexpected behaviors

JMcC

Hi,
I created a PPT presentation and DID NOT USE any special effects or tools or
anything to create it. I did use ppt template off the web. Also, I did cut
and paste photos off the web. I did draw some lines as well.
Today for the first time I looked at the presentation as a slide show.
Much to my surprise and consternation, on 4 slides (both ones with photos
AND ones without; NOT the slides where I drew lines) the text appears line by
line each time I hit enter. I DID NOT set it up to do this.
Also, the last time I created a PPT presentation (for my doctoral qualifying
exam also), the slide show worked normally at home but using the schools AV
equipment the slides advanced on their own accord at an irregular rate.
Help!

The animation is probably set on the slide master in the template you
downloaded. If you need detailed instructions please say which version you
have.

Probably your template had animation set up on the slide master. Go to View
| Master | Slide Master, select the placeholder (where it says "click to add
text) and turn off the animation. It's probably under something like Slide
Show | Custom Animation. (Sorry, been a long time since I used PPT 2000 and
I don't have it handy right now.)

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response! I did as directed and for the master title
and text there is no animation. Here's what I did for first the master title
and then the master text.
1. Selected
2. Menu "slide show" ->preset animation and found that Off was checked.
Also checked customanimation on same menu and did not see anything checked
or set up.
3. Right clicked on the selected box and chose "format placeholder". but
there's nothing there regarding animation.
What next?
Thanks,
Jan

Sorry, I just rechecked which slides had the weird animation and it is only
the ones that have photos I got off the web! I did a cut and paste I think
instead of saving to my computer and then inserting. I'll try that now!
Thanks

Hi,
I right clicked on the images and sure enough under custom animation there
was a setting to bring the text in second. I unselected them and now it works
perfectly.
Thanks for getting me on the right track.

By the way, you really don't want to copy/paste images from the web.

Of course I can't find that page on the PPT FAQ right now, but basically,
sometimes you get extra code when you paste, and the picture makes the
presentation want to "phone home" when you open it.

I've not run into your issue with the animation -- that's definitely another
reason not to copy/paste images from the web!
