PPPoE Uninstall for Dynex DX-E401 Router

I bought a new Dynex DX-E401 4- Port, Ethernet, DSL/Cable router with a
firewall. I've only got one computer. I am not running a multi-computer
network. I bought it to get a hardware firewall. The manual says I must
uninstall any PPPoE client software. My DSL service uses PPPoE. How do I do
this on Windows XP home?
Also, I am having a problem with CPU activity suddenly increasing with
the router in the line. With the router out of the ethernet line there are
no sudden bursts of CPU activity , so I don't suspect my DSL connection
device is causing this. This happens when there are no requests for web
pages or browser activity. I observe this condition using Windows Task
Manager. I talked with the people at Dynex but no solution was had.
Otherwise it works great. I can load web pages fine. I get good ping
responses from the router itself, my LAN DCHP assigned address, and my WAN
assigned IP address from local ISP. Any help I'd appreciate.

as for your pppoe problem, i can't help you but i would recomend calling your
ISP to see if they have a solution. as for your sudden bursts of CPU
activity, that sounds like a clasic case of spyware, adaware, or some sort of
virus, trojan, or worm. i would run spybot S&D and some type of ativirus
software (i recomend Symantec or Zonelabs).
