PP2007, loop animation on single slide multiple times

Hello Again, new problem, new post!

I have a complex presentation that I want to leave as one presentation. I
am already using branching and custom shows. At various points in the
presentation I wish to add a single slide, that will loop 3 objects (object 1
fades in, 3 secs, fades out, repeat object 2 and 3, restart at object 1). I
need this slide to launch as part of the normal slide progression (not an
action button, else I could make it a custom show again!). On eventual mouse
click I want to transition to next sequential slide. There could be any
number of loops.

I have tried changing the order of repeat after previous etc on the objects,
and using the loop animation tickbox, but can't see a way of driving the
whole animation sequance as one loop with no with no user interaction.

I will have more than one such slide that I will need to use at varying
points!

I have a feeling there is an obvious answer, but I am just suffering from
powerpoint burn out!

Many Thanks in advance once again.

Hi, Martin,

PPT doesn't animate sequences of animations, which is really what you're
after. Fade in and out repeatedly is the classic request for this, but
unfortunately, it's just not there. You can do it with some VBA, I'm sure,
and Chirag Dalal has an add-in that might help you:
http://officeone.mvps.org/anims/anims.html (Features: "Looping animations
across multiple shapes on a slide is now possible with OfficeOne
Animations")

Depending on the setup of your slides, you can force this with a custom
show. I know John mentioned those to you earlier in a previous thread. A
long time ago Kathy Huntzinger and I created a little file that loops a
series of slides using a custom show. You might check it out and see if it
will help you achieve your desired repeat sequence. It's FAQLoop at the
bottom of this page: http://www.echosvoice.com/animationfeatures.htm (You'd
only need one slide, but the prinicple is the same.)

Thanks Echo,

Will take a look - I thought with a custom show you had to trigger it from
an action ? (button, object, etc) - hence why I didnt think it will work here
(it needs to trigger on a next slide type event, however i will take a look
at the resources you linked once I hit the office!

Many Thanks,

Martin

PS: Am succcessfly using custom shows elsewhere now - just didint think I
could for this element!

Martin a single slide custom show is AFAIK the only way without add ins. I
know this isnt exactly what you want but if you have a tranparent (99%)
rectangle appear full screen at the end of any other animations and give it
an on click action to go the custom show the clicking anywhere on screen will
do the trick. If necessary you could make it exit again also

Did that answer the question / help?

Thanks John, That give me a way of achiving what I need for now! As I start
digging for better ways to do thi in the future, I guess I am going to be
learning what I can do with macros in PP2007, are there any good resources
for this out there that you guys are aware of ?

2007's not out yet but most of what you already know about programming it in earlier
versions still applies. If you don't know much about that, try here for starters:
