PP won't play mp3s! Please help

Cliff

All of the sudden, PP won't play my presentations with mp3s and it won't let
me create new presentations using mp3s. It's not a copyright issue or
anything similar. I've made dozens of these things using mp3s in the past,
but now, out of nowhere, I can't do it anymore. What gives?!

Thanks,
Cliff

What do you mean, "it won't let me create new presentations using mp3s"?

What happens when you try to insert an MP3 file? How are you inserting it?
Which version of PPT and which version of Windows? Where did the MP3s come
from? Where are they stored on your harddrive?

Which version of PowerPoint? Have you recently installed something like Real
Player? Which program plays your MP3 files outside of PowerPoint

I can open PP and create a presentation, but when I try to "insert" a sound
file (mp3 - legally aquired), I get the message: 'Powerpoint couldn't insert
the sould from the selected file'. Also, the default has changed so when my
music folder opens it's not even showing my mp3s. I have to change to "All
Files" just to see my mp3s. I've never had to do that before. I'm using a
2002 version of Office. The mp3s came from CDs. I'm running XP and my mp3s
are stored in My Music. The mp3s play fine on Media Player. The really
frustrating part is that my previously created PPs won't play all the music
I inserted after hours of work!

Wow, I don't know, then.

Maybe the MP3s have DRM (digital rights management) attached?

It sounds as if you've installed software that has hijacked your PCs media
settings. I'd suggest downloading and reinstalling Windows Media Player.

No. Like I said, I've used these mp3s many times in the past with no
problems in PP.

OK, but Media Player works fine when I play mp3s. It's just within PP that
there's a problem. ???

Try playing your MP3 files with "mplayer2.exe" which is what I believe
PowerPoint uses to play them.
