powerpoint won't play movies

When I go to view a powerpoint presentation in powerpoint 2003 it wont play
the imbedded movies. I can play the presentation on my old computer using
office 2000. The other strange ting it does if it does play a movie the
screen goes blank where the movie should be playing, and i only hear the
audio. when it first happened i downloaded an update from office that was
supposed to cure it. it didn't. anyone have any answers
