I have WIN XP Pro. In the Folder Options Files Types I can't get an "Open"
with a pps file. Is this the right approach?
I have PowerPoint Viewer installed but I can't open a downloaded message
with a .pps file.

PowerPoint Viewer works OK with .pps that I already have on disk.

TIA, Bill

IF you have an older version of PowerPoint loaded on your computer than you
cannot view slides made with a newer version of PowerPoint.

I have to save pps files to the hard drive before Powerpoint Viewer will open them.
Don't forget to check them for viruses before playing.

Another possibility, is the file in question, really isn't a Powerpoint file
at all. Maybe it is another kind of file, which someone changed the extension
to .pps ?

I have the same problem.. I USED to be able to open .pps files that
were still in my email... but not any more.. I MUST save them
somewhere then open them..
I have the latest .pps viewer..

A problem that I had was I could NOT open a .pps with PowerPoint

PowerPoint Viewer 97.
