Powerpoint images not showing in 'normal' view

I cannot see images I have pasted into word and powerpoint when I am viewing
my documents in the 'normal' mode, although the images do show up in print
preview mode (as well as in slideshow and thumbnail mode for ppt.) I've
searched the help and can find nothing related to this problem. Please
help! I am running Windows XP and have Powerpoint 2003 as part of MS Office
Professional.

PS. I recently upgraded to SP2 and think the problem does correspond with
this time frame

Have you applied service pack 1 to Office 2003? Go to Help > Check for Updates.
If that isn't the problem, have you updated your video driver recently?

My first step would to make certain I had the lateset driver for the video
card and DirectX for the operating system.
