PowerPoint and Windows Media Player

Hello,

I have linked a wmv file to a PP presentation (PowerPoint
2002) through the Windows Media Player that I inserted
through the control toolbox in PP. I have attached this
PP file to my web site. Everything works fine with the
video and the media player(finally).
But...when the presentation is viewed on the web, after
the slide with the video is played, when I click to
advance I receive the dialogue box "this document has been
modified do you want to save changes?" Yes, No, Cancel.
This does not occur with the slides previous to the "video
slide".

Any suggestions as to why this is happening, I have a
feeling I am missing something minor but I have hit a
mental block.

Thanks again for any suggestions.

Here is some more information in the hopes it will
generate any suggestions.

The PP file and wmv file are being placed on the web
through Lotus Notes.
I have removed the player from the slide in question and
the problem does not re-appear...therefore I believe the
issue is somewhere in the player (I hope).

Thanks...again,

The PP file and wmv file are being placed on the web
through Lotus Notes.

Let's eliminate as many players as we can ...

Do you have any way of simply posting the PPT and wmv files to the web server
w/o Notes sitting in the middle?

Have you located and renamed the WMV file on your own PC to make sure that this
is really working as you expect it to? It may be finding the WMV on your PC,
not the one on the web server.
I have removed the player from the slide in question and
the problem does not re-appear...therefore I believe the
issue is somewhere in the player (I hope).

Thanks...again,

I wish I could go around Notes but everything on our web
has to go through a Notes database.
I renamed the wmv (changed the file properties within the
media player to link to the new name)placed it on the
server and deleted it locally to ensure it is running on
the server.

More info...when I run the presentation locally with the
wmv sitting local everything works fine. This issue is
only when the presentation viewed through the web.

Thank-you for the suggestion and hoping for more :)

Hmm. Wild guess ... try this:

Now that you have the WMV up on the server, try linking from the PPT directly
to it there, then upload the PPT.

Thanks for your help.

Your suggestions gave me a thought...I inserted the
windows media clip object instead of the Media Player
Active X. I then CTRL+V'd the location of the WMV file to
the object on the server.
This has apparently eliminated the problem.

Again, thanks for your help...it got the juices flowing.

Hey, great. I can't claim to understand what made it work, but if it's working
for ya said:
