powerpoint 2007 slowly open earlier version

I just got a new dell laptop (4g RAM) with Vista and Office 2007. I
transfered my Office 2000 powerpoint files and tried to open one of them. It
had 30 slides with pictures on each slide. It takes about 5 minutes for the
file to load. I saved it using conversion. Still 5 minutes to load. I
downloaded file converter from MS. Still 5 minutes to load. I deleted and
reloaded Office 2007. Still 5 minutes to load. What else would you recommend?

My old computer (386 K Ram) loads the file in 15 seconds.

i believe service pack1 (for 2007 office) will be helpful..
