Hi,
How can I change the format of my PowerPoint presentation so it shows the
information I'm trying to display point by point instead of showing the whole
page at a time?

Hi, What I do to show slide content point by point is to 1) bring up a slide
that you want to animate, 2) go to the Custom Animation section of Slide Show
Tools, and 3) then select (highlight) each object one at a time and then
select the entrance effect choice you want for that particular bullet point
or picture, 4) go to the bullet point that is next and do the same. 5) make
sure to Save your file because that then stores your slide animations you
have chosen. Once you get the drift of how this works, there are a lot of
options for Objects to Enter and Exit from the display.

Now do the Slide show for that particular slide and when it comes up for
showing, each bullet point will only enter the display after a mouse click or
by hitting Enter on the key board.

I know this is somewhat sketchy but the PowerPoint help should be able to
answer other questions.

Hi Luc,

I tried to follow the instructions from the link. I got close but not quite
there. The points now appear one by one, but on an automatic sequence (like a
slide show). I want the points to show when and only when i push enter of
left click.

I know i'm close can you see where i'm going wrong?

Hi Dave,

On my tools menu 'custom animation' is only found in the 'animation' tab not
in slide show. (does this matter?) How do i then select the entrance point of
each bullet point?

Every powerpoint presentation i have ever seen is line by line. Why oh why
is it so hard to do the simplist of tasks. Surely line by line should be the
default setting and anything else requies change! I am pulling my hair out
over something that should be so easy to do...................please help.

Hi,

Regarding the point by point animation, I was directing you to the Custom
Animation for PPT2003 which is found in a different place in PPT2007. Sorry
I did not notice you were using 2007. Anyway, once you have the Custom
Animation screen for a particular slide, you need to select and animate each
element you want to enter or exit one at a time. So for example if you have
a list of bullet points you want to enter one at a time, first highlight the
text, then go to the options in the Custom Animation pane that allow you to
choose (for example) Entrance Effects, and pick the one you want to use (for
example Fly In from the Right). Then do the same process for the next bullet
point and so on. Notice then that each element to be animated will have an
assigned number. This is the order of the entry of the elements. There is a
button to Play the effects for that slide right there in the Animation Pane.

I have not used PPT2007 much, so it might let you select all the bullet
points at once and animate their entrance all at the same time. My
experience base is 2003.

I have another computer with 2007 on it and I will check to see how this
animation works: Wow, you are in Luck. With 2007, under the Animations tab
go to "Custom Animation" and select each bullet point one by one and Hold
Down the CTRL key to keep them all highlighted and then select your Entrance
Effects. This is really powerful compared to 2003 where you had to select
them one by one.

Try that out and let me know if you have any Questions. Take Care

Yes Yes Yes, Thank you Dave.

I was not individually entering the lines as entrances.

Thanks for being so patient.
