Powerpoint 2007 crashes when closing

We are experiencing the same problem with the mso.dll and the ppcore.dll. We
are already using Windows Certified drivers from HP. We also tried 2
different versions actually, both certified. Yet we are still having this
problem on exit of PowerPoint and Word. Any new information?

I can't really help you resolve the issue with the HP printer specifically,
but if you install a Windows-certified printer driver (one that ships with
Windows) and set it as the default printer, I bet that will take care of the
immediate issue of PPT 2007 crashing when closing.

Hi - I think I'm on the right track, thanks to your previous posts, but I

getting a little different error when I close PowerPoint 2007 - although
the
actual error signature is the same (ppocore.dll), when I send the error
report it tells me that there is an issue with an EPSON printer driver on
Vista and to download the fix for it. I'm running XP SP2 and have an HP
7780.

I'm not sure from prior posts that for folks running XP and HP printers
that
anything has been solved.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate
it.

Thanks. I mis-typed, it is the f4140 I have with updated drivers. I
determined the error was occuring when the HP was set as the default
printer
and the printer was disconnected. I guess this must be the glitch?
Either
that or the HP driver is not adequately compliant.

Just checked the HP site. It looks like HP doesn't have drivers for
that
one. Is it an older printer, by chance? The drivers they list start
for
the
HP Deskjet F4140. Check out this page:

We are getting this error with 2 HP printers. The K5400 and the D4260. We
installed and tested both the newest and previous revision right from HP's
website and it says the drivers are Windows Certified. We don't have the
Business Contact Manager installed and we have no Add-ins running in
PowerPoint and just installed the driver for these printers, not the other
software suite. We are running them on an XP Pro SP2 system with Office 2007
Professional Plus. We get the crash mainly with PowerPoint but also
occasionally in Word as well. It's only when it's these 2 printers are set as
the default. If we have other HP laser printers as the default PowerPoint
will exit successfully. Below is the message from Event Log. This one shows
that ppcore.dll is faulting but we have also gotten the mso.dll errors
previously. Thanks for any help you can provide

I have been having the same problem. I am running XP Pro SP2 with Office
2007 Enterprise. I have HP C4280 All-in-one printer installed. I have
determined the problem to definantly be the HP driver as if I change the
default printer to say the "One-Note" printer I do not receive the error.
Thank you all for posting your problems to help nerrow it down. No if we can
just get a real fix.

I just bought a new Dell D830 with XP Pro SP2, went to the Microsoft
update site and installed all the updates, bought a new HP Officejet
H470, went to the HP site and tried both drivers available there.
Powerpoint crashes 100% of the time when I simply launch it and then
immediately close it--if I have the H470 set as the default printer.
Also, Powerpoint often but not always crashes when I close it after
working on a new or existing pptx file. Less often Word also crashes
when I close it. This is all with the printer attached. All problems
disappear if I set my older HP printer (950 C) as the default even
though it's not attached. Below are the details.

Is Echo S suggesting that the next step is to try a driver from
Microsoft rather than a driver from HP? I want to proceed carefully
here and I want to be sure I understand what to do next so I can set
my new H470 printer as the default. Thank you in advance for any
clarification on this.

Thank you for doing good detective work and for detailing your problem so
precisely. Yes, I think trying one of the Microsoft drivers is a good next
step to try. It won't hurt, anyway.

You may want to give HP customer support a call, too. Perhaps their techs
have a new driver they can email you or something....

observed that the Printer drivers are not compatible mostly HP printer
drivers with the Powerpoint 2007 hence it crashes and gives you the mso.dll
error.

Try downloading the SP1 for office 2007(Powerpoint 2007) this will help you
in resolving your issue. We have tried this at our edn and this does help.

Thank you to Debbie and Echo for help with this.

I downloaded the Powerpoint 2007 SP 1 but when I tried to install it I
got a message that I already had it installed, presumably from when I
went to the Microsoft update site and took everything. My current plan
is to waif for HP to come out with a better driver. But if I get tired
of having to specify my new printer every time I print (because I
can't set it as the default until this problem is fixed) I will try
the Microsoft driver.

I am new to all this and very impressed with the help I've received
here. Thank you again to Debbie and Echo.

I've just read all the entries above, disabled all my add-ins, there were
only a few, and created a newdefault printer using the above HP Laserjet 4v
suggestion. I just completed all that and still received this error:

I'm running Office Ultimate with SP1 on an XP machine eith SP2. I normally

I concur with someone above who asked if there's a way to disable the error
message and NOT restart PowerPoint. Thta's the only issue I have else
everything saves fine.

Hi,

First, please update your Windows XP to Service Pack 3.

Second, the problem you are having is with the Visual Basic Editor. From
within PowerPoint, <Alt+ F11> will open the editor, if it is installed. If
it fails to open, you may be prompted with a Detect and Repair. Else, do a
detect and repair on PowerPoint 2007. The problem may be left over from an
upgrade from a previous version? Below is an article for previous versions,
which may not help with 2007:

I have the same problem with PowerPoint, i.e., it crashes when you exit.
Sometimes it happens with Word but never with Excel. The default printer I
have is the HP Photosmard C7280. It operates in a wireless mode. What's
strange is that it works fine when you're creating PowerPoint presentations!

I have been having the same problem. I am running XP Pro SP2 with Office
2007 Enterprise. I have HP C4280 All-in-one printer installed. I have
determined the problem to definantly be the HP driver as if I change the
default printer to say the "One-Note" printer I do not receive the error.
Thank you all for posting your problems to help nerrow it down. No if we
can
just get a real fix.

Turn off the dang autosave feature under options and the problem goes away.
