PowerPoint 2003 w/dual monitors will not display wav file on secon

I'm using PowerPoint 2003 w/dual monitors. The Video portion of wmv file
will not display on secondary monitor when running a slide show with a
linkied wmv file. The sound plays, but no video displays on either monitor.
Anyone know of a fix?

Exactly how do you have the show going to the second monitor? If it is
through the VGA output on a laptop and the same image is supposed to be
shown on both screens, you may have to disable hardware acceleration in your
video card setup. This may also fix the problem with the video on second
screen if using the Presenter view with multiple monitors.

If this is a laptop and projector system with the same image on both
monitors, use the control FN key and whatever F key on your keyboard that
changes the order of the video output (it toggles from laptop LCD only, VGA
output only, and then LCD & VGA output.) Many laptop and internal video
cards are not "powerful" enough to drive both an internal and external video
device. (Hold down the Fn key and press the F key (different on different
laptops but will have a picture of a monitor/and other device or have the
initials LCD on the keycap) one time. Wait for at least 10 seconds for the
action to take place before pressing again for the next action.)

If the first two paragraphs don't help, please answer these questions.

If you can't see a wmv image on either screen, can you see the image when
using only one viewing source?

Can you play the wmv file in Windows Media Player on the primary monitor?

As LVTravel wrote, the problem is usually with the video hardware
and/or the driver. And the problem can usually be solved by directing
the video output exclusively to just the secondary monitor, ie blank on
your notebook.

If you are using two monitors and have two video outputs, PowerPoint
can be more powerfully used if you turn on Extended Desktop. This
effectively enlarges your Windows Desktop to cover both displays and
you can move your mouse from one to another. PowerPoint can then be
configured (Slide Show/ Set Up Show...) to Display slide show on
Monitor 2. You can do other stuff or look ahead while the PowerPoint
show is undisturbed on the secondary monitor (eg projector).

Extended Desktop can be turned on under Control Panel Display (or right
click the Desktop and select Properties) the last tab (Settings). Of
course your PC must have the proper video drivers. For Windows XP,
usually this is already in. For Windows 2000 or Windows 98, you have
have to go to your video hardware manufacturer.
