PowerPoint 2002 XP Save As XML?

Is there a PowerPoint plug-in or addon that will allow PPT 2002/XP to save a
presentation as XML?

I can save as a PPT 2007 pptx, but when I examine the pptx file, it appears to be a
binary file.

Have you installed the converter:

If you have, it is possible that your file associations are not set
properly. Can you open PowerPoint and open the pptx file you created
from within PowerPoint? What did you do to save as a pptx file?

That is to say, it is NOT a text file (since an XML file is text!).

From PPT 2002, I was able to do a "Save As..." as a PPTX file. So, yes the converter is
installed.

File associations have nothing to do with it. I need an XML file, which is a text file.

A .pptx file is a .zip with XML files within it. There are binary portions
representing images and code inside the .pptx file though but the slide, its
text content, animations, etc. are all XML text. Try opening the .pptx file
in your favorite Zip utility.

That's right. Just replacing the .pptx with .zip will allow you to
open it straight from Windows explorer (>=WinXP) as well.

If you use Visual Studio, you can also use the VSTO Power Tools add-
in:

This allows you to open pptx files directly in Visual Studio, giving
you a treeview of the package structure and the ability to edit the
XML directly.
