power point / projector issues

Thank you to Gary Young and Echo S for help with the
problem. Toggling the F8 key on my Dell (CRT/LCD) switch
to have no image on the laptop and only an image on the
projector screen....solved the problem. Apparantly, the
15 pin output from the newer laptops doesn't simply
mirror the display on the laptop onto the projector.
There is truly a second video output. Turning off the
laptop makes the projector the primary output. There are
apparantly more complicated ways to make the projected
image mirror the laptop screen, but since I use a
wireless mouse to run the presentation and as a pointer,
it doesn't matter to me that the laptop screen is blank.
THANK YOU BOTH VERY MUCH
