Power management

Chuck

Power management settings appear to be saved in the "HKLM\Current Users"
key. What happens when no users are logged on ? In this case, which power
management settings are used? The reason I ask is a computer of one of my
client's goes into hibernation (or suspend) even though power management has
been set to "Always On" for all users. This is a desktop computer (Dell
Optiplex GX270) and thre are no significant power management settings in the
BIOS.

Thanks

Chuck

Helo Chuck,
Last logged on administrator has control of the box so their power setting
are what are applied.
You may want to look at powercfg utility which is in XPSP2. Powercfg.exe
is also in Windows Server 2003.
You can use that utility to look at the power settings and change them.
Not all the options are available until you install XPSP2 but you can check
settings and change most of them with the utility prior to installing XPSP2.
Thanks,
