Power level icon in taskbar not displaying

G

When running on battery power, my laptop usually displays a battery icon in
the taskbar which gives approximate power reserves when hovered over!
This icon however does not always display & I now find it as a "past item"
in the customize notifications area of the taskbar settings dialogue.
Is there a way/program available to control exactly what does appear in the
taskbar?

Right click on the Taskbar, select Properties. Next to the "Hide inactive
icons" line click Customize. Set the Battery Meter to always be displayed.

Enjoy.

It was selected to "always show" but as I said, it is now in "past items"
i.e. ones that are no longer shown!!! how do I get them back, there are 12
displaying at present, is there a limit perhaps?

I have this problem with a laptop. The two items I have as 'always show' are
volume and power meter'. Sometimes they display and sometimes they do not.
I am not using windows classic with high contrast which I know has a problem
with icons in the notification area. What is hiding these icons randomly
from day to day. I use my laptop in several locations and on different
networks but there is no correlation with the problem.

I'm having the same trouble. Since I've had my computer, the power meter has
conviently been displayed near the clock on the bottom right of the task bar.
Recently, however, it has vanished. I did not change any settings, but never
the less it no longer appears on the notice bar. I followed Keith's advice,
right clicked on the task bar and customized the icon, "100% remaining
(charging)" to "Always show". There is no icon in the list for the battery
power meter. I am running on battery as I speak, having changed the setting
as before mentioned, clicked, "OK" and then, "Apply", and still the power
meter is not displayed. What should I do next?

looks like we are all in the same boat. My power and volume icons have
returned today after laptop pc switched off for two hours whilst I travelled
to a client. Will they be there when I get home again??

I performed the fix, and all my tray icons came back including my volume
icon.

Thanks for all your help..

The so-called fix does not work for me. The problem is random. One time
wehn I login the power and volume icons are there, another time they are not.
Hiding UPnP would have an effect on the firewall so I'm not going there.
Anyone got any ther suggestions?
