There was a brief power failure at my house. The computer was on at the
time. When the power returned, I noticed that the computer was now off
(though the monitor light was on). I turned the computer on and it
booted up normally.
When there was a power failure on my Win ME computer, there were two
differences: 1) the computer turned back on when the power resumed and
2) Scan disk ran automatically.
My main question here is--why doesn't scan disk (or its equivalent in
XP) come on when the computer is started again? Does XP even come with
scan disk? Do I need to use it in this instance or has XP somehow
magically taken care of any issues that the unscheduled power off created?
Thanks
