Post SP3 Boots to a blank desktop

After a few of our pc's loaded sp3 the next day the users are booting up to a
blank desktop, no menu,icons, nothing. We removed sp3 through the recovery
mode and ran the repair. Still nothing. The only solution we found was to
remove the HD, backup folders and reformat. Anyone else having this issue?

well, it was a shot
in the dark.

i researched sp3 for a
couple of weeks and also
ascertained an opinion
from the maker of my
machine, and ultimately
the suggestion by the tech
convinced me not to install
it.
