Since installing the new serveice pack (sp2), I've had a
major problem where I get a blue-screen with the
following STOP message and a full memory dump.

STOP 0x0000008e
(0xc0000005, 0x82eede1b, 0xf2b8399c, 0x00000000)

I just upgraded to the new service pack and am having the same problem,
except mine won't let me even read the blue screen of death and just keeps
rebooting and rebooting.
If there are any Microsoft people out there, Whats up with this
I will eagerly await a response (

We have 2 SOYO P4I865PE Dragon2 Motherboards and Several MSI 865PE Neo2
Motherboards. The MSI run fine with SP2, but the Soyo boards both lock up on
the XP boot screen. In order to recover one I had to do a repair twice from
the SP1 CD. If you have the Soyo P4I865PE Dragon2 dont do the sp2 until a
bios update comes out.

Remove SP2.

FYI this is a user group, not staffed by MS.

The blue screen occurs on my PC when I launch certain
games. The three I've identified so far are C&C Generals
and Battlefield1942 (both EA published) and Serious Sam
The Second Encounter (Godgames/Take2 published) I've
found that other games (Max Payne 2, Castle
Wolfenstein:ET).

There may be other games that may/may not work but as the
ones that don't work cause a blue screen, then testing
them is a right pain in the arse.

So far no non-game software has caused this error on my
system:

WinXP Home(SP2)

Athlon1300
GeForce FX5200 128MB (installed latest drivers-last week)
Via-based motherboard (installed latest 4in1 - last week)
512MB RAM

I have received the same message when I load Windows SP2 onto a fresh
install of Windows XP Home Edition SP1a. I have the following board
SY-P4I865PE Plus DRAGON 2 v1.0 (Prescott-Ready).
