porn links in favs

Dalert

Hi! does any one know how to get rid of porn links that
seem to have self installed in my favorites?? I have run
Ad-Aware plus(ver 6), deleted the links,emptied recycle
bin and rebooted, deleted and recreated user
profile...nothing seems to work. As soon as I click on my
favs menu they come right back. Is this a reg key problem
or macro or ...??? It's very anoying.

Thanx in adance

U can try going into your Control Panel, and Add/Remove Programs.
It is likely/possible that you will be able to see a odd program thta has
self-installed.
Just look at the names ofthe programs and/or dates and see.
If you find it, just use the "remove" function that 'll take you through the
steps.
Some program make you input a code to let you uninstall them, etc. (they
give you the code as part of the uninstall process).
Anyway, it has happened to one of my friend and the links and even a toolbar
just installed itself and wouldn't go away.
This solution took care of it.

Bummer!!! Well I have tried all these suggestions and
none have resolved my issue..they are still there and
will not go away or even be detected...any more ideas?? I
have noticed that if I close IE and open windows
explorer, navigate to my favs dir I can delete them and
they do not return untill I click on my favs button in
IE...if I do not click the favs button they do not come
back as I have checked in explorer. It's only when I
actually open my favs that they re-apear. Something is
being linked to the opening of the favs...HELP, this
seems to be a tough one to figure out!!!

Thanx again in advance

No guarantees here, but you might want to download BHOCaptor
http://www.webattack.com/get/bho.shtml and see if there is some sort of
rogue BHO (Browser Helper Object) loaded on your system. These little
programs are normally used to handle foreign file types (PDF files and such)
that the browswer doesn't work with natively but it wouldn't surprise me at
all if they could be attached to menu items too -- programmers like to
generalize whenever then can.
