POP3 IMAP SMPT? Need installation help

I'm trying to set up Outlook for the first time.

My questions (very basic):

1. How do I tell if my incoming mail server is a POP3 or
IMAP?

2.What type of information do I put in the two fields
for "incoming mail server" and "outgoing mail server"? I
have not a clue what this means.

I would greatly appreciate anyone explaining this to me.

For both questions, you'll need to get that information from your email
provider. Most have a page with that information for their subscribers. If
you can't find it, contact their custom service department.
