pop-up windows will not close after opening

Sometimes, during my dealings with IE, pop-up ads as well
as regular ie windows will open and then will not close.
When I press on the close button, I get a tone and then I
have to go to the ctrl-alt-del to get the task window and
shut ie down. Please help if you have this problem.

The first thing to do is to scan your system for the possibility of
unknown\unwanted spyware or parasites that may be causing your problem(s).
