ok, here's the topic, now vote (there was no official vote before except by
susans terms). happy now? because this is getting really old.

my vote is....i vote, um.....well, doesn't really matter now does it?
acf'ers are still gonna fight over its validation no matter who votes what
or what vote wins.

can anyone, please, pass the salt?

I ask you to consider this please. If it doesn't matter then why have
you, yet again, started another thread on this topic. You must be able
to see that this has accomplished nothing!

If you personally don't care then please just let it go, some of the
rest of us have.

It's right beside you.

I'm still trying to figure out how any vote on a newsgroup can be legit.
Consider the varying factors:

* Who can vote? Anyone passing through? Or is there a certain "status"
that must be attained? If anyone can vote, then what's to stop me from
getting all my friends, relatives, etc. from surfing over to vote "my"
way? If a certain requirement has to be met to vote, how is that fair to
a long time lurker/infrequent poster (today's lurker could be
tomorrow's leading contributor.)

* Seeing as that there is no "central" news server, how do we know that
all votes will be counted or seen? I know that my server blacklists
other server(s), because I often see replies to posts that I never saw.
I know my server is blacklisted by others, because I have often had very
legit posts that were never replied to.

In any "democratic" society, you must be registered to vote. In an
organization, you must be a member to vote. Seems to me that the fairest
way to do this would be to have someone set up a message board, on a web
site (of course), that requires registration. Sure, there could be
multiple registrations and such, but how many would go through all those
hoops?

BTW, why is this thread crossposted to a.c.f.games? (Or did I miss the
Games section at Pricelessware.org?)

No, to maximize a point. Took "H-Man" a while to get it.)
The PL has never had a games section. There was a separate list of
a.c.f.g game recommendations in 2002, but that project has not
continued.

Not sure if its needed or not (as we have GameHippo & Rudy's site but a PW
category for Games or Kids freeware wouldn't hurt as those are two
categories that are always overlooked).

Cheers!

oh, you can have your salt back.

Despite all the problems that hasn't stopped yearly pricelessware votes. And
I could be wrong but isn't the forming of offical newsgroups also dependent
on such votes?
