.png files

Our IE6.0 won't show any .png files. We can't figure out how to turn them
back on. Our settings are set to "show pictures" and we've tried right
clicking and show pictures but it just shows up as a box with a little red x
in it. Can anybody help us?

I thought IE is not meant to show png files.
The answer to this is awaited.

I doubt if this matches the OP's description.
"superbubbles4n" reported a Red-X.
The article mentions "picture placeholder" (which is not a Red-X.)
Also, no OS has been mentioned yet but the article implies
that a fix for that particular problem may be in XPsp2.

I think we need a sample link to further discussion.

I hope they really fix *.png's this time.
They've ignored the whole format for over 4 years by not letting it have
semitransparency just because they were too lazy to fix the bug....
Yes, they do provide a sort of workaround, but it doesn't always work, and
it involves adding a lot of code just to do simple html page....
