>> Plot missing data

Hi, using Excel 2007 how do I plot a line through points with no data? At the
moment there are gaps.

Many thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jon, thanks for you prompt response. I have found this dialog. However
the 'Show empty cells as' only has the zero option available.

What's the trick to be able to select 'connect data points with line'?

Many thanks
Jonathan

Hi Andy, no simply a column of dates and another column of numbers.

Same issue here...trying to plot DATE on X axis with BAR as Y1 and
SCATTER as Y2. There are 2 problems:

1. As with Jonathan, 'Connect data points with line' is not available
(only Gaps and Zero)
2. The data in SCATTER column does not line up correctly with the X
axis (DATE)...it is skewed in from the left (2004-01-30 data around
2004-07-30) and the right (2008-06-30 data around 2008-02-30).

Here is a view of the chart with all of the data:

Here is a small sample the data:
DATE(SOME DUP) BAR SCATTER
2004-01-30 19.23
2004-02-27 23.77
2004-03-31 30.78
2004-04-01 138441
2004-04-02 141657
2004-04-29 243856
2004-04-30 238183
2004-04-30 34.99

1. Dunno.

2. I presume you have two X axes, but they both are located at the bottom of
the chart. You should format the secondary Y axis, and on the scale tab (or
whatever passes for the scale tab in 2007) cause the secondary X axis to
cross at the Y axis maximum. Then you can format it to have a scale that
matches the primary date axis. In 2003 you can plot an XY series properly on
a line/column date axis, but this seems not to work in 2007.

3. Please post on top. This is the convention in these groups, and doing so
makes the threads easier to follow (as opposed to some top posting and
others bottom posting).

Hi,

It's seems you will also get the Connect option grayed out if you have a
combination chart.
If you set the option before changing the chart type of one of the series to
column then it appears to apply to the line series.

Cheers
Andy

I didn't think of combination charts. The Interpolate or Connect With Lines
option is not relevant to a column type. Since the setting is applied to the
entire chart, if any series in the chart do not support this setting, it is
not offered. If it is applied while it is still supported, it remains set.
