Hi everyone,
I have been having multiple problems running IE 6.0 lately. First, I was
having problems accessing Ebay's home page. I kept getting a message that
said "IE has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. We aplogize for
any inconvenience." I posted a message regarding this topic a couple days
ago. I thought I fixed the problem (i was able to access ebay for about a
day after I went into the DOS mode on my computer and did a deltree history,
deltree tempor~1 ans deltree cookies). Then I started getting the same error
message again. SO then I thought maybe if I extract a new mshtml.dll file
from my Windows cab folder (mshtml.dll was the file that IE was encountering
the error with). I tried extracting a new mshtml.dll file from my cab
folder, but now I am getting another error message that says "IE has
performed an illegal operation and will be shut down" The details shows that
there is an error with the Kernel32.dll file. I tried extracting one of
these from the Windows cab folder, but that hasnt helped. Now I cannot
access eBay at all without getting this error message that is preceded by
numorous script messages. zCan anyone tell me how to fix my Kernel32.dll
file? I have WIN 98 and IE 6.0.

The problems you are having may be related to the way your
system is responding to the presence of mal-ware on it,
programs which secretly operated in the background and
have a tendency to generate error messages that disguise
what they are doing.

Before trying anything else, go to
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/english/default.shtml and
download Ad-aware SE. This program will scan your entire
system for malicious spyware, adware, and other types of
infections. This could be the problem. Give it try.
It's FREE.

I already have Ad Aware on my computer and run it regularly. I think I
fixed my problem. I reinstalled Win 98 and also reinstalled IE 6.0 and
things seem to be ok for now. No error messages (yet).
