Please share your XPe DEV environment, or give me some advises please

Greeting,

Can anybody share their successful XPe DEV environment? I meaning the
DEV machine's setup: include the Os Version, hard drive (one or two)
partition informations. Thanks.

Now, I have a windows xp pro machine for Xpe Dev with one hard disk 2
partitions, C for windows xp pro(NTFS, 60GB). D for Dev (FAT, 650MB,
Not Active), I call this machine is A.

What happen is I am try to developing the XPe for another machine (I
call it machine B). the hardware totally different.

Any good ideas for me to easy try each run-time building. Thanks

Hi Rong,
Example:

1. On target device, from a full build of Windows XP, export
the following keys to a REG file:
HKLM\System\MountedDevices

Actually usage of XPP is optional and it was mentioned as an example. You can use XPe, or WinPE to read VolumeID numbers. Or even
you can move that HDD to your development computer and read it there from registry of course.
If you are a pro you can create this number by your self by knowing start offset of partition and disk id which create this number
for fixed disks.

Will this way make some problems for the original C driver? which is
my Windows XP Professional system for dev XPe.

Rong,

If you set it up properly (following Slobodan's tip) it should not make any harm to your XP Pro partition.
Please also remember that you use dual boot environment (set up boot.ini ARC paths properly).
