PLEASE HELP

This morning I signed in to my msn messenger automatically and everything was fine. I switched off my computer. When I came home and tried to go on to my messenger, it would not sign in and told me there was either a problem with my internet connection or with the server.

There is nothing wrong with my internet connection, as I am typing this from the same computer. When I try to sign in on hotmail.com, that does not work either, on any user account.

The computer I am on now runs with windows xp. I have another computer downstairs running on 98 and it is having the same problems (it is a shared internet connection).

Nobody else in my area is having any problems signing in. What's going on?? Please help!

I have also just downloaded yahoo messenger...I can't sign in to that either, but i can retrieve my emails by signing in on yahoo.com. My other programs that use the internet connection such as kazaa are working fine. This has got me totally stumped. I have found an alternate route and have now got to my hotmail inbox by going through a series of help pages, but I cannot log in via the main page.

I have tried cleaning out all my temporary internet files, history, cookies etc., I have reinstalled programs but nothing seems to work. PLEASE HELP!

Kazaa itself shouldn't brake Messenger, however, some of the spyware
components that come with Kazaa might -- to scan for these spyware
components and remove them, use Ad-ware:
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/downloads.html

Next, empty your Internet Explorer cache and cookies. To do so, open
up Internet Explorer, choose the Tools menu, then Internet Options,
then Delete Cookies and Delete Files buttons.

Try to login to Messenger and access Hotmail now -- if you can't, try
these:
- Check that the date on your computer is set properly -- correct
month, day, and year is required to authenticate to Passport, required
for both Passport sites and Messenger
- Change your password @
http://memberservicesnet.passport.com/memberservice.srf, then try
signing in again.

Now try again.

As well, be aware that just logging into MSN Messenger itself using
your MSN e-mail account, will not keep it active, you actually need to
login via Hotmail at least every 30 days in order to keep the e-mail
account open.
