Last night I downloaded and saved a couple of programs to run them later on,
I just finished doing a restore on my

computer the first thing I do is get WINDOWS XP PRO updates and drivers for
my components after wards.

but all of a sudden my extra programs to download which would be like your
typical programs like winzip and so forth

are not executing after I download them. I run the .EXE for the program then
a window pops up saying what program

do I want to use to run this program. If there is anything I can do to fix
this please post Thank You

Copy the bold text to Notepad, save as Exe.reg (save as 'all files'), and
doubleclick.

Anwer yes, when asked whether you want the contents of Exe.reg added to the
Registry.
Afterwards you need to reboot

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open]
"EditFlags"=hex:00,00,00,00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command]
@="\"%1\" %*"

I did it i saved it and restarted my pc then i downloaded a program but the
same problem came up it was asking what do i want to open this program with.
But then what i did was dowloaded the program again as I saved it as xxxx.EXE
with the .EXE at the end and it worked.
Now when i dowload it automatically turns into a .EXE file no need to rename.

Thank You very much as long as it worked it's what makes me happy. :)
