PLEASE HELP. Messenger

I have Windows Messenger Version 4.7 (4.7 2009) and
Windows XP.

My boss has version 6 and I Windows 2000.

I am not able to have an audio conversation with him
through Windows Messenger.

I initially thought if I upgraded to the highest
Messenger version, that would fix things but when I went
an downloaded the newest version....when I went to check,
I still had the 4.7 version.

My mic and speakers work fine, as do his.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Anyone out there have any suggestions?

I have a similar problem two PCs one running ME one XP.
Using Logitec messanger webcams we can establish a video
link but not with audio. Just audio on it's own doesn't
work either. Have all the latest versions.

is this an operating system mismatch?
