Please help for access database password

G

Guest

Hello all,

I follow the instructions to set up password for my security access
database. The problem is: if people get into the security DB through my
shortcut on the desktop, password was required, but if they get into the
database directory directly and double click the .mdb file, no password
needed. What is wrong with the security password? What could I do to avoid
this?

Thank you,

Blinda

You did not follow all the steps to secure your dataabse.

This same question is asked and answered almost every single day. Read the
previous posts on the topic. Most of them will be in the "security"
newsgroup.

Thank you, I follow the instrction at: http://www.jmwild.com/security97.htm.
Since I have access 2000, so I did not do run user-level security but
manually set the security. Do you think it will works to run with user-level
security for access 2000 database.

Thanks again,

Blinda

You missed a step (every step is important; you can't miss a single one, no
matter how trivial it seems to you).

Do not use the wizard in 2000.

Thank you so much. I follow the step-by-step instruction, and I nicely
secured my access database. Thank you again.

A doubt about the step-by-step instruction at www.jmwild.com/security97.htm:
In step 23:" Choose Object Type Modules; select all items under Object Name.
Click on Read Design once to remove all permissions and click apply".
Actually, I have no Object Type Modules at all.

Could you please let me know what cause this problem?

Thanks,

Blinda

That only applies to version 97, not 2000. I'll make that clearer, thanks.

Dear Joan,

Thank you very much for helping me set up my secured database, could you
please help me for the problem of importing table from the secured database?

When I try to import a table from a secured database (I set up the security
for this database) to another secured database, the following information was
shown up:

You do not have the necessary permission to the ‘*.mdb’ object. Have your
system administrator or the person who created this object establish the
appropriate permissions

Please help me for this problem. How can I set the appropriate permissions
for it?

Thank you very much.
