Playing RealVideo streaming without RealPlayer ?

P

pgriffet

Hi all. I've uninstalled RealPlayer and I use to view RealVideos
with Media Player Classic (with the appropriate Real Codecs).

When I go to a website with an embedded RealVideo, I only get the
red cross. And in my TIF, I see a file with the following content :

*** Code Download Log entry (09 Sep 2003 @ 22:45:48) ***
Code Download Error:(hr=8007007e)Le module spécifié est introuvable.

Operation failed. Detailed Information:
CodeBase:
CLSID: {CFCDAA03-8BE4-11CF-B84B-0020AFBBCCFA}

snip

I think the problem is in the registry, some keys deleted during the
RealPlayer uninstallation.
So I have to view the source of the web page to locate the URL and
download the .rm clip with Net Transport. But it would be great to
see the beginning of the clip while online.
I've also uninstalled QuickTime but MPC allows to view embedded
QT movies with the QT Codecs.

So the question is : how do I play streaming RealVideo with MPC or
another light player ?

If this question is for another newsgroup, let me know.

Real Alternative 1.04

Author: Real Alternative
Program Type: Freeware

"Real Alternative will allow you to play RealMedia files without having
to install the official RealPlayer. You do need a media player that is
capable of playing RealMedia files. The included Media Player Classic
supports it. Supported are RealAudio (.ra .rpm), RealVideo (.rm .ram
..rmvb), RealText (.rt), and ReadPix (.rp). Not fully supported are:
Streaming smil files (.smi .smil) and Realmedia embedded in webpages. "

QuickTime Alternative 1.12

"QuickTime Alternative will allow you to play QuickTime (.mov .qt) files.
This way there is no need to install the official QuickTime Player. As a
bonus, Internet Explorer will play all QuickTime movies that are embedded
in a webpage. You do need a player that is capable of handling QuickTime
movies. The included Media Player Classic works very well with QuickTime"

Thanks Wayne but I already use Media Player Classic with the Codecs
as mentionned on the RealAlternative homepage.

And the following is actually my problem :
Not fully supported are:
Streaming smil files (.smi .smil) and Realmedia embedded in webpages.

Pierre.
