when I try to play games on pogo for instance, I have no problem getting
there website but when I try to join a room sometimes all I get is a blank
screen where the game is supposed to be...my privacy setting is on medium, I
tried with pop up blocker off but still 50% of the time I can't load the page

Usually the blank screen on pogo is caused by something that's blocking the
ad that loads before the game room.
See if you have something for ad blocking enabled & try shutting it off.
Also make sure that your internet cache is clean as this can prevent pogo
games from loading.
This assumes you are not a paid member of course, as those of us with paid
memberships have no ads ;)

Do you have a java virtual machine installed?

when I did have java virtual, each and every time I or someone else on our
computer played slots on pogo or on sim slots each and every time you clicked
on the play button the java would pop up and (display) if you will that it's
working ,which would take approx. 5- 10 secs. every time.
My question then is if I did download it again is there a way of
controlling it to work only in the background and not be a nuisance?

I'd check what else is running in the background; the problem could be a
memory issue, or interference by other software, especially antivirus,
crashguards or anti-advertisement software. Try disabling such programmes
individually, and testing, to see if you can get an improvement.
