Playing burned CDs in 1998 Ford Windstar

I recently made some audio CDs. I have difficulty in playing them on the CD
player in my 1998 Ford Windstar. It usually plays the first one or two
tracks, and then it hangs. It is not possible to play beyond where it
hangs. Is there any solution to this problem in the speed the CD is burned?

Have you tired the disks in another CD player? Some older players just don't
seem to like burned disks, although they'll ususally refuse to play them
altogether . Are you using CD-Rs or RW? The latter is much less likely to
work.

The disks work in all PC CD-ROMS and in our boombox which specifically
states that it will play CD-Rs. I just need information on whether they
will work in the Windstar's CD player.

I doubt if anyone can give you that level of confirmation, unless
perhaps they're another Windstar owner with the same model of CD player.
Some players just don't seem to like certain brands of CD-R.

Have you tried your local Ford dealership?

I had some friends w/ similar problem - CDR not playing in car CD player. It
was the CD burner. The one that worked best was Plextor. Also, try burning
at slower speed, close the CD after finishing recording, no text file etc.
Tweak around your Roxio or Nero, try another CD writer, a better media
(CDR's) etc.
Again, since the car player reads the first files, try recording at slower
speeds first; to avoid coasters, tweak your settings on a rerwritable CD.

Then this question has nothing to do with Windows XP. If it's a stock CD
player, consult the owner's manual.
