Gord,

Thanks for the additional information. That sugggestion
had me hopeful,
but when I went to Control Panel I found that OE was
already listed for news reader. I tried again to send a
new message before posting this reply but it did not
work. When I clicked on "New" a drop-down window showed
the words "Question" or "Comment" with a red question
mark next to the word "Question." Nothing happens when I
click on that word Question.

I appreciate you trying to help.

I reported the issue you posted about
not being able to post a new message
in the Web Based Communities.

If I receive any useful info...I'll update this
thread.

If you set up OE as per the instructions
I posted...you can read/post newsgroup
messages through OE and you will not
have to access the website.

Read Gord's reply.

John and Gord,

I have followed the steps in How to Configure OE for Newsgroups that you
provided and ended up at the "Congratulations screen," but cannot seem to get
from that point to being able to ask a question in this group. I have tried
many times. I guess I will have to give up.

Thanks to both of you for trying to help me. I will just read your responses
to other user's questions in the future and learn from them.

If you open OE and go to...Tools / Newsgroups...
does the Newsgroup list appear? What happens
if you select one and click the Go To button?

Sorry that you are having problems. Maybe
at sometime in the future you will be able to
set up OE for newsgroups.

John,

When I go to OE/Tools/Newsgroups, al ist of Newsgroups does appear. I did
not recognize any of them as this group. I tried going to a few and now have
subscribed to four that are listed as "microsoft.public.ae....." in the
Subscribed Window under Tools. When I click onOE/Tools/Accounts, it shows
"Microsoft News" and "news-server.(followed by my internet provider's
address)" It really may be just as well if I give up on this for now and try
again at a later time.

Before leaving I would like to squeeze in one more question. I have a
"video" saved in Windows Movie Maker as an AVI Video. Is it possible to burn
that AVI to a DVD using Windows Movie Maker? I think that I have read both
"Yes" and "No" answers to that question.

Thank you very much for your help.

You are all set up and should be able
to read and post messages.

This group is:
microsoft.public.windowsxp.photos

When you select a newsgroup you should
see the current messages. To post a new
message...just click the New Post icon on
your OE Toolbar. It's like e-mail except
you are posting to the newsgroup.

Reply...is a way of sending an e-mail
message directly to the original poster and
I recommend that you don't do that unless
asked to. Instead...use the Reply All button.

If you have the Media Center version of
Windows XP, your Movie Maker should
have an option to burn to DVD...however
this method has been reported as unreliable
and the following links may be worth a look:

Your news server should be changed to msnews.microsoft.com
