placement of data labels

Hi we are upgrading from Harvard Grapics. How do we access placement of
data labels selected in Chart Options. For instance, if you wanted the
percentage listed next to the category name instead of below, or the
value listed inside pie slices, but category name listed outside.
Sometimes we want to put it all on one line, as in the case of a pie
chart with multiple small slices.

Unfortunately, you can't specify this kind of placement in the MS Graph data
labels.

You can create manual textboxes and type in the data labels (but that kind
of defeats the purpose of actually having labels that update when you change
the data, I know).

Double click a data label to see the options you have in the native
controls.

If that doesn't suite you, try free-form placement of the labels. Click
a label and then click it again (if need be) until the solo label is
selected. Then, grabbing the border, move it where you want.
