pivot table date filters

on a excel 2007 pivot table you have the option of applying a date filter on
a date/time field when the field is added to either columns or rows.
This option is missing when the field is added to report filters. Wonder why
and whether there is a work around.

Hi Gigel

Drag the field to the Row area>then apply any grouping you wish>drag filed
back to the Report Filter area.
When you use the dropdown on Report Filter>Select Multiple items

I don't know why the feature isn't available -- it sure would be nice to
have.

To show a date range you can either leave the date field in the row
area, and filter it there (if you move the filtered field to the Report
Filter area, the filter will be removed)

Or, add a check mark to 'Select Multiple Items' and select specific
dates in the report filter.

Or, add a field (e.g. SHOWDATE) to your source data, and use a formula
to see if a date falls within the specified date range. Then, add that
field to the pivot table's report filters, and select TRUE. Remember to
refresh the pivot table if the date range changes.
