rawrite or similiar) to a laptop with limited resources and no cd ?

Aaah, one of those "how long is a bit of string" questions!

It really depends on the "limited resources" or rather just how limited.

There's a good summary at
http://www.tuxmobil.org/Mobile-Guide.db/mobile-guide-a4-survey-micro-linuxes.html

and the complete guide is at
http://www.tuxmobil.org/Mobile-Guide.db/Mobile-Guide.html

and the definitive guide to linuxifying a laptop is
the home page at
http://tuxmobil.org/

Depending on hardware a network install would be a
possibility (if there is a NIC in the laptop), or if you can borrow a
parallel port iomega zip drive then there's "zipslack" which is
installable on a FAT32 partition (using the UMSDOS.

http://www.slackware.com/zipslack/
ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware-current/zipslack/

Hope this helps.

All the best
Gordon
