'Pin to Start Menu' option is missing

After reformatting I'm missing the right click Start Menu option of Pin to
Start Menu. Also, the Start Menu used to show at the bottom about 7 of my
most recently used programs and now all the shows on the "Classsic Start
Menu" are the Programs that I personally added, and the default options of
"Programs, Search, Run, Settings, Docs, etc.

Sounds like you're using the Classic Start Menu. You cannot pin or unpin
items using the Classic Start menu. Switch to XP's Start Menu.

Right click the Start button | Properties | Start Menu tab |
Select: Start Menu | Apply | OK

Or if you want to do similar in Classic Start Menu...
Right click Start button | Explore All Users |

Add the shortcuts here...
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
They'll appear above Programs.

Oh my God!!! All this time I thought I used to use the Classic Start and
that's what I was trying to customize now. For the past week, I've been
researching this problem. I tried switching it to Start Menu and it worked!!
Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!

I recently noticed that "my computer" had dissappeared from its usual place
on the start menu. Is this another victim of SP2,or another cause. I have
tried right click on START -properties-cutomise-advanced &"my computer" is
checked but it doesn't appear on menu

Start | Run | Type: gpedit.msc | OK |
Navigate to >>

[[This setting hides My Computer from the desktop and from the new Start
menu. It also hides links to My Computer in the Web view of all Explorer
windows, and it hides My Computer in the Explorer folder tree pane. If the
user navigates into My Computer via the "Up" button while this setting is
enabled, they view an empty My Computer folder. This setting allows
administrators to restrict their users from seeing My Computer in the shell
namespace, allowing them to present their users with a simpler desktop
environment.

If you enable this setting, My Computer is hidden on the desktop, the new
Start menu, the Explorer folder tree pane, and the Explorer Web views. If
the user manages to navigate to My Computer, the folder will be empty.

If you disable this setting, My Computer is displayed as usual, appearing as
normal on the desktop, Start menu, folder tree pane, and Web views, unless
restricted by another setting.

If you do not configure this setting, the default is to display My Computer
as usual.

Note: Hiding My Computer and its contents does not hide the contents of the
child folders of My Computer. For example, if the users navigate into one of
their hard drives, they see all of their folders and files there, even if
this setting is enabled. ]]
