PIM for Win XP

Michal Z.

Hi,
I am looking for a good PIM programme for Win XP Pro (freeware or shareware
not expensive). If you have experienced about such a programme and you liked
it, please let me know?

Thanks in advance
Mike

---- you might want to try "AddressBook" -- http://blaizfree.net/ ..it
is encrypted, password protected, and even holds pictures.

----if you have a ton of info, you might try " treePad" ---
www.treepad.com
(the free version is plain text only , but great program)...

Not sure what you want in a PIM, but if you want an electronic Rolodex
type of program, Sidekick gets my vote; if you want a text organizer, my
favorite is InfoMagic.

For shareware, ask in alt.comp.shareware. It's OT here (see group
name).

I'll second Sidekick. Might give Palm Desktop a look, too.

Seconded. Very good program, does what it must do very well and is
easy to use. No bells and whistles, uncluttered interface, good search
capability. Bonus: very handy for reformating, or better unformating,
text files. Get the extra utility for making a calendar/diary.

If you want a PIM with calendar and alarm as well as a simple
"treepad-like" notes manager (much simpler than Treepad, but a RPN
calculator thrown in) have a look at XDesk95; the last freeware
version ("Rev 2.11.0.0") is available somewhere, don't have a link
though.

Found this at http://freeware.stalkingsheep.co.uk/
The links lead to SourceForge, and it appears to be abt. 6.3Mb.
Aethera
Sort of an Outlook replacement, sort of a PIM. "Aethera is a pim
application, i.e. it handles all kinds of personal information: email,
contacts, notes, tasks, todos, journals. It has various communication
features regarding: send/receive email, send/receive task requests and
appointment requests via email. It can help you to know quickly the
world's news and weather."

Mike,

What features are important? Is this primarily for recording
miscellaneous information collected from the web? Is this a reasearch
tool where citations are important? Is this intended to be a single
interface to mail, schedules, and tasks? Or ??? And don't forget to
mention who will be using it. Are they (will they be) infrequent new
users who will receive no trainning? Power users of MS Office who
will spend an hour a day manipulating the interface? Professionals
who bill in increments and need supporting records?

Each of these scenarios is best met with a different tool or perhaps
even multiple tools.
