Picture numbering

I wish to print a contact sheet in Adobe Photoshop and use pictures from my
files. As the pictures have been numbered C&L the computer automactically
puts (1), (2) and so on in brackets behind C&L. When I come to print
pictures as contact sheet they all get mixed up as the number 1 comes first
then 11, 12,13 etc then follwed by 2,3,4 etc.

How do I name them so they stay in order and without the anoying (1) bracket
numbers.

Someone please help

Thanks John

One way is to add more digits...but you'll
always get the brackets if you use XP to
batch rename/renumber the files.

1001
1002
1003

1010
1011
1012

1100
1101
1102

As for the second question, your problem is the result of your not
understanding lexical order.
If, for example, you want picuture 1 to be followed by 2,3, 4, etc, you
should number them 01, 02, 03, 04, etc.
Such numbers will be sorted before pictures 10, 11, 12, etc.

That's great as long as you don't exceed 99.

Your scenario results in the following:

01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 100, 101, 102, 103, etc...

Yes, I know. I didn't add that you need to use enough leading zero
characters to permit proper sorting.
Really, I thought that the OP could determine that without help.
I try to keep my folders at about 100 files anyway.
