Physical Memory dump

On one of my computersat what seems to be the most
inopertune time the computer goes into a physical memory
dump. I would like to know how to stop it and how to
prevent it from happening on other machines. Sometimes
XP will not have even booted up completely and it will
dump.

What else happens besides the memory dump?

Does the computer also automatically shut down and reboot itself?

Does it produce a "Blue Screen Of Death" error message? If so please
provide the complete *verbatim* contents of the error message on the
blue screen including all of the parameters.

If the computer is rebooting when it produces these memory dumps then
you can change this. Use Start - Settings - Control Panel - System -
Advanced and click on the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery
(bottom) section.

In the Startup and Recovery window click on the checkbox for
"automatically restart" to clear it. You can also change the Memory
Dump option to either "None" or "small memory dump (64KB)" in this
window. Click on Apply and OK as needed to exit.

That will put an end to the reboots but they will probably be replaced
by "Blue Screen Of Death" STOP error messages and the system will lock
up, requiring a manual power off and restart. However the contents
of the STOP error messages will be a direct clue as to the underlying
cause of the problem.

Good luck
