What type of file are they?
In other words, when you save them somewhere - what is the file extension
on the file?

You will have to excuse me as im a bit divvy when it comes to technical
things on the pc.I have copied the file name where I have stored these files
C:\Documents and Settings\Dean Summers\My Documents\My Albums\My Albums\New Folder\Friends
I hope this helps.

That doesn't help at all.. :)

The pictures that you can open are jpg files.. if one of your pictures shows
a dog on a beach for instance, if you were to right click on the picture
file and select properties, it might give the name 'dogonbeach.jpg'..

OK.. so what you have to do is find one of the files that does not open,
right click on it and select properties..

Write down the full name of the file, and then post it back to this thread..

Good luck

Above where you read that is the file NAME.. that is what is important
here..

It could be that you are trying to open some kind of picture index file that
is created whenever you add a picture to the folder/album..

The only thing above where it says type of file is the name that I gave that
particular photo, and it includes there e-mail address

I suspect that by renaming the file, you have effectively disassociated the
file by giving it a different file extension..

Open up WINDOWS EXPLORER.. locate the folder where the file resides..

Click on VIEW and select details..

Right click on the file and select RENAME..

Rename the file.. choose a regular description and ENSURE that the last part
of the name = .jpg

Please QUOTE the post you are replying to. This is not a chat room, and
these posts are replicated over many thousands of severs worldwide. Quoting
ensures that people can pick up on the gist of the thread without
necessarily seeing all the posts.

Trudi is replying in the same thread as she has been for four exchanges, and
I know that because I am the other party..

We are both presently in microsoft.public.windowsxp.newusers, and I am using
OE to read the newsgroups..

It is important that you rename the file while in 'detail' view.. try
renaming the file

ABC123.jpg

You need to make sure that there are no other letters/numbers in the name..
use the left and right arrows on your keyboard to check that the above is
the complete name..

We will get there..

That's all nice Mike, but if people who are using the option of only
displaying unread messages, coming in and finding just her message without
quoting anything of what she is replying to - it is a meaningless thread.
Should you wish to work with Trudi off line since it is only between the two
of you - email is a good alternative. :)

Odd. That was the first post I saw of this thread........also using OE.
Funnily, Thunderbird showed the whole thing.......

I am left speechless by your remarks.. I am the only person who has taken
the time to reply to the OP.. there is NO question of having a private
session with Trudi.. replies to questions should remain public in the best
interests of everybody using newsgroups.. the only time I ever entertain
e-mail is if the OP directly e-mails me first..

If some are choosing the option of only seeing unread messages, then they
should deal with it, and understand that they may well misinterpret what
they are seeing..

In the meantime, if it is ok with everybody here, I will continue to try to
help the OP is the same way as I do for everybody else..

As Ron pointed out, you may be seeing unread messages only.. you might want
to take a look at your OE settings..

I am....that's why I looked at it in Thunderbird as well. Unfortunately, OE
doesn't seem to have the same function as TBird has - "View Threads with
Unread" so that you see the whole thread with an unread post in it, and not
just ALL messages. The latter option in a large-traffic group is untenable!
Unless there's a custom view I haven't found yet?

I

It's Only Me

Wind your neck in Gordon. If you cannot follow a simple thread, get out and
go somewhere else. Just because you only want to see unread messages,
doesn't mean others are like you. If you are too damn lazy to read the
previous messages, that's your problem. STFU!!!!!!!!!

I

It's Only Me

Well said Mike. I completely agree.

I am sorry this leaves you speechless - it wasn't meant to be rude or
antagonistic. My comments related to private/public were in answer to your
earlier reply "Trudi is replying in the same thread as she has been for four
exchanges, and I know that because I am the other party.." Sounded to me
like it doesn't matter if others couldn't see all the thread - it was
between you and her.
If some are choosing the option of only seeing unread messages, then
they should deal with it, and understand that they may well
misinterpret what they are seeing..
Even in today's world - hard drive space can be rather limited, so clearing
out messages that are no longer needed is a required function. Some also
don't have the luxury of spending vast amounts of time in the groups and are
either searching for another post of an issue they are having as well, or
trying to assist in their own little way. Sorry if we disagree on this - it
doesn't make my way perfect either. :)

One question I would pose - do you list your messages by date? Ascending or
Descending? I've always used Ascending as it lets me see the older posts
before the newest - but have ran into more users who look only at newest
posts first - which also runs into the issue with unquoted replies.
In the meantime, if it is ok with everybody here, I will continue to
try to help the OP is the same way as I do for everybody else..
Please continue - seems this was taken way too confrontational to begin
with.
