Photos not retaining resolution

I am trying to create a photo slide presentation in Movie Maker 2.1 and then
import that into PP2002, simply because PP can't handle the synchronization
of video and audio. The synch issue is resolved using MM, but importing
JPEGs into MM results in the picture resolution being destroyed. The
pictures are all blurry. If I look at the same pictures with Windows Picture
Viewer they are crisp and clear. What's with this? I've never used MM
before. Any ideas?

This group tends to focus more on PowerPoint, ctdak.

I would venture that the difference you are seeing in the resolution is due
to the difference in the formats. Movie format is much lower than
PowerPoint resolution, but because of the ability of motion, this can be
made far less noticeable. Adding motion will make the lower resolution seem
very ok.

There are several save formats you can use in WMM, look for one with a
decent resolution before rendering the video.

Thanks for answering. Actually there are many references to Movie Maker in
this group (if you do a search) and most of them are probably because of the
inadequacies of PP. Alternatives need to be discussed here as well, and as I
said my use of MM is due to PP not being able to synch video and audio
properly, an issue which has fostered some discussion here (if you do a
search for "timing"). I actually got the idea of using MM to solve this
problem from a posting on this group!

Anyway, I have discovered the answer to my own question. Still photos
appear at a lower resolution on screen in MM itself, but once you create a
movie file (wmv) then full original picture resolution reappears.

I think you misunderstood me. I did not say we did not recommend WMM when
it is the right tool for the job, I said that we focus on PPT. If you are
looking for a group that focuses primarily on WMM then try the
newsgroup.

And yes, the edit window and preview windows do show the inserted images at
a reduced resolution so that the program can stay in real time for editing.
The added resolution is incorporated when the movie is rendered into WMV or
other video format. You will probably notice that even the highest wmv
resolution is still only about 740 x 480 pixels whereas PowerPoint goes with
the screen resolution (usually at least 1024 x 768). This was the
resolution drop I thought you were talking about. I also misunderstood you.

I'm glad it is resolved, even with both of our misunderstandings.
