Photo Story 3 Installation

Hi all,

I downloaded Photo Story 3. When I tried to install, it said that I needed
Media Player 10 to install Photo Story. I downloaded and installed Media
Player 10 and then tried Photo Story again. It brings up the Photo Story 3
for Windows Setup Wizard and another window that says "Error 28000.Generic
custom action error." The only option is "OK" and then the install wizard
says that it was interrupted before Photo Story 3 could be completely
installed. And the only option is finish. I have tried several times and
each time I get the same result. Has anyone seen this before? I would love
to add Photo Story 3 to my movie toolbox. If anyone knows how to help me get
it installed, I would be very grateful.

==================================
I have seen a report from one other user that the
following instructions solved the issue:

"Error 28000. Generic custom action"

(813649) Error 27000 or Error 1304 When
You Try to Install Microsoft Plus! Digital Media
Edition
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813649

If you try it, please report the result.

John,

Thank you for your response. You're on the right track here. I checked the
allusers\documents directory and permissions had been changed. It must have
happened recently. I followed the directions from the link. I tried the
installation again and it got almost to the end this time and then:

Error 1304.Error writing to file c:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Documents\My Music\Photostory3.wpl. Verify that you have access to
that directory.

I checked the all users\documents directory again and no permissions. I
tried the directions in the link again and all seemed to go well but still
no permissions. Do you have any ideas how to fix this?

John,

Thank you for your reply. You're on the right track here. I checked the
permissions on the All Users\Documents directory and, sure enough, I do not
have permissions there any more. I followed the directions from the link you
provided and it went well. I tried to install again and this time it went
almost to the end and then:

Error 1304.Error writing to file C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Documents\My Music\Photostory3.wpl. Verify that you have access to
that directory.

Then it says that it is reversing all the changes and the little progress
bar moved backwards to zero (is that just for insult?) I checked the
permissions in the All Users\Documents directory and I still do not have
permissions. I tried the directions in the link again and it all looked like
it went well but still no permissions. Do you know what else could be wrong?
If you can help me fix this I will be so grateful!

The article I posted for you mentions
error 1304 and I had one other user
who reported that following the instructions
in the article cleared up the issue for him.

Sorry, but that's all I have. If you discover
the fix, please share it with this newsgroup.

This is just a guess but I wonder if it's possible
that you may have a corrupt User Account?
