Photo Gallery

Since I installed BT Broadband Talk 3 days ago, every time I switch on
my computer it tries to install Windows Photo Gallery. Messages appear
asking me for the CD, which of course I do not have. How can I stop
this keep on happening? I keep hitting Cancel on the windows installer
pop up box which appears, and whilst that gets rid of it, it is quite
annoying, and never used to happen until I put Broadband on.

Thanks for any ideas/help.

What if you uninstall the only software you installed?

What is the Windows Photo Gallery? Is that a part of Office? If yes,
perhaps asking this question in one of the Office newsgroups is a good
idea. Would also suggest checking with BT Broadband Talk tech support about
this install issue.

Sharon,

I have no idea what Photo Gallery is, I think it may be something
included with Windows Vista, the new windows. The weird thing is I do
not have it on the computer, and it never appeared until I put
Broadband on. What I need to know is how to stop the computer trying
to install it everytime I start it up. Is there anyway of getting into
the start up exe files and tinkering with them?

Thanks

Are you running Windows Vista?

If yes, all bets are off. It's still in beta. Anything can happen and often
does.

If no, try to find out what Photo Gallery belongs to. It may be a part of
an application that got "dinged" from the install of the BT program. To do
this, use search and look for "gallery." Or check event viewer to see if it
gives the path to whatever the installer is looking for. (I can think of
several programs that have Gallery-type features but have no idea what
software you have installed.)

If you can match this to something you have installed... Usually
reinstalling or running a "repair" of the broken program will fix this. Or
you could try having the program's CD already in the CD drive during
startup. The installer may see it there and pull the files it needs to
perform an auto-repair.
