Phantom device

Every time I start up my machine I keep being prompted to
install a driver for an unknown PCI device. Since this has
started to happen my soundcard will not work.
I've updated the bios, uninstalled the PCI bus controller,
taken everything out of the pci slots and uninstalled, yet
I am still greeted with the same darn problem. I've tried
everything I can think of.
If anyone could help I'd be extremely grateful.

Sounds like the sound is part of the motherboard. Vist wemsite of the
motherboard manufacturer and get the Windows 2000 drivers for it. The
sound driver should be there too.
