Phanthom Shut down - Help -

My sister's PC has started to shut down and reboot by itself. This has been
happening for the last week.
She hasn't installed anything recently.Using XP. This could be happening in
the middle of sending an attachment or using a program or maybe when it's
'idle' and she's not using it at all.

She managed today to screen copy the message that is only up for a few
seconds.
It says (with an X in a red circle)
---This System is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log
off.
Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT
AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Time before shutdown: 00:00:17
Message
Windows must now restart because the
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly.---

Does anyone have any idea what this is about? Please Help

Thanx for that.
I was in such a hurry to post this problem that I only read the other posts

Tell her to go to her desktop and right click, then go to
the "New" menu and hit shortcut then copy this line: ""%
windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -a"". Then hit next and for
a name type abort shutdown. I have done this many times
before. It works, and the computer won't shut down. What
it does is runs the Built-In Windows XP shutdown tool to
stop it.

TOday I have had calls from 5 diffrents friends all with
this same issue...

Going to TechNet... I could not find any thing on this
issue...

I go over to Symantec.... and right on the front
page...

Follow this link..
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?
url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp

It talks about it... and how you can download the patch
to fix it...

Good Luck...
