Personal in Excel 2003

Mike H.

I have a personal.xls file in my xlstart path. If I save it as a .xlt file,
it does not open automatically. If I save as a .xls file it opens but
remains active. I don't want to close it, I just want it "out of the way".
How do I do this? And should I use a .xlt file? If so how do I get it to
"auto-load"?

hi
the personal.xls should be a xls and not an xlt. the personal.xls should be
hidden.
in this way, it wont show but all of your personal macros will be available.

Open excel.
with personal.xls visible, use Window|Hide
close excel
answer yes to the "do you want to save your changes" prompt.

reopen excel to test.

Make it .xls
Run Excel; with Personal as the active workbook; use Windows | Hide
Now save and exit
Next time you run Excel, Personal will open but it will not be visible

To add my 2 cents worth.

*.XLT files in XLSTART folder will not "autoload" in any case.

Everything else will try to open<g>
